Allied College is a career focused training institution that offers programs to its students with job placement and training for the real world. Allied College is part of the Anthem Education Group that formed in 1982 and today operates 23 career training schools across 14 states. Allied College is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and fully accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. The school offers its students the option of receiving a diploma or Associate of Applied Science in a wide variety of studies including medical and dental assistant programs, massage therapy, surgical technologist, and pharmacy technician.

Students pursuing a diploma in the pharmacy technician program at Allied receive the necessary information and skills to enter into an entry-level pharmacy setting position. Graduates of this program are able to achieve successful employment in retail, wholesale, hospital, long-term care facility, nursing home, or mail order pharmacy. Students undergo in-class training through lectures and demonstration as well as practical laboratory procedures. Students are also required to complete a 160 clock hour externship that averages eight hours per day. The externship is unpaid and students are placed in a wide variety of pharmacy and laboratory settings. During the externship, students are able to perform the skills learned during the classroom lectures.
Students also have the option of pursuing an Associate of Applied Science as a pharmacy technician at Allied College. The program consists of classroom and laboratory procedures as well as an unpaid externship. Students are taught the daily routine of a pharmacy tech and learn the skills necessary to become an active support for the pharmacist. Drug utilization, drug inventory, potential drug interactions, and dosing of medications are some of the topics covered in the program's units of study. Graduates of the program receive their Associate's degree as a pharmacy technician.
