The Pharmacy Technician program trains students to become registered pharmacy technicians. California state law requires all pharmacy technicians to be licensed before they can obtain employment. Graduates of the Central Coast College program are prepared to sit for the national licensure and certification exam. The curriculum focuses on teaching students the specific skills and knowledge that employers are looking for in successful pharmacy technicians. The program culminates in a 120-hour externship at an approved pharmacy facility. Graduates of the program can work in a variety of medical settings such as a retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, mail order/internet pharmacy, long-term care facility, rehabilitation clinic, or distribution center.

Students also receive job placement assistance and many times are hired on at the location where they do their externship. In 2008, 82% of graduates received placement. Job services include resume and interview preparation and job search coaching.
