The Pharmacy Technician program's goal is to provide occupational training to prepare students to become entry-level pharmacy technicians. Students who complete the program are ready to work in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, clinics, long-term care facilities, and any other location where pharmacy technician skills are required. The classes focus on specific skills that employers are looking for in qualified pharmacy technicians. The diploma program provides not only an education but also specific job training. The program includes a student externship experience as one of the requirements for graduation. Students are placed in a pharmacy under the mentorship of a licensed pharmacist and are required to work alongside the employees at the pharmacy putting into practice the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom.
To assist students in obtaining pharmacy technician jobs, Charter College offers a full menu of career counseling and job placement services. Students have the opportunity to learn how to design and write resumes specific to their field and work experience, how to write an effective cover letter, how to interview for pharmacy technician jobs, and where to search for pharmacy technician jobs. Charter College can also help pharmacy technician students to evaluate their strengths, weaknesses, likes, and dislikes to help them make sure the pharmacy program is the right fit.
