Everest Canada is fully accredited to award associate's degrees, career certificates, and career diplomas. Programs are career-focused and stress the importance of mastering specific skills related to the occupation being studied. Programs can be completed in as little as a few months or up to two years based on full-time attendance.
The Pharmacy Technician program at Everest Canada teaches students the skills required to become an entry-level pharmacy technician in a wide variety of settings. Graduates may work in retail or hospital pharmacies, Internet pharmacies, medical distribution companies, pharmaceutical companies, rehabilitation clinics, or long-term care homes. Students learn a variety of skills such as sterilization practices, pharmacology, medical terminology, pharmacy best practices, customer service, medical insurance billing, pharmacy information technology systems, inventory management, and prescription preparation.
Students also participate in an externship that requires them to work under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist. Students get the chance to apply what they have learned in the lab and lecture portions of the degree to real work situations. Upon successful completion of the externship the graduate may choose to sit for the certification exam to become a certified pharmacy technician.
Everest Canada also specializes in career assistance and offers a full array of placement assistance to help the new graduate secure a place of employment. Job skills such as resume writing, industry specific interviewing, and job search skills are covered.
