Fortis College is a career training school that offers both online programs and classes at several U.S. campuses. Fortis College campus locations include Landover, Salt Lake City, Jacksonville, Phoenix, Norfolk, Montgomery, Foley, Orange Park, Columbia, and Pensacola. A wide variety of health care programs are offered at Fortis and include dental assisting, medical assisting, health information technology, practical nursing, surgical technicians, respiratory care, and pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy technician program at Fortis prepares students to establish employment at a hospital or retail pharmacy upon graduation. The program provides hands-on experience in a clinical setting as well as lecture and exam structured courses. Students of the program learn the fundamentals of basic pharmacy and pharmacology, including reading and filling prescriptions, patient-related pharmacy care, and understanding pharmaceutical calculations and dosages. Students are prepared to become a valuable asset to a licensed pharmacist in a health care setting. Graduates of the program receive a certification and become eligible to sit for the Pharmacy Board examination.
The enrollment process at Fortis College's pharmacy tech program consists of the completion of a common application and interview process. Potential students must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and demonstrate a strong desire for success in the pharmacy technician program. Career goals and curriculum understanding are discussed throughout the enrollment process if the student possesses the qualities required by Fortis.
A career center is available on campus for students and Fortis College alumni to use. The career center offers employment preparation through skill enhancement training and workshops. The students who utilize the career center resources become trained in interviewing techniques, resume building, cover letter writing, leadership, and appropriate interview and employment attire.
