Heald College
Heald College is a large training institution that offers associate's degrees, diplomas, and certificates in a number of health care, business career, legal, and technology training programs. Heald College was established in 1863 and has eleven college campuses located throughout the western United States. Campus locations include Concord, Fresno, Hayward, Honolulu, Portland, Rancho Cordova, Roseville, Salinas, San Francisco, San Jose, and Stockton. Each college campus has the philosophy that small class sizes are crucial to successful learning from their skilled instructors. The Heald College campuses are all accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Associates of Schools and Colleges.

Some of the medical and health care programs available at Heald include medical and dental assisting, health information technology, phlebotomy, medical office administration, and the relatively newer program of pharmacy technology. The pharmacy technology program is available at all Heald campuses except Stockton. Both a certificate in pharmacy technology and an Associate in Applied Science degree in Pharmacy Technology are offered for this program. The program combines laboratory training, classroom lectures and coursework, and real-world application in order to prepare the student for success in the pharmacy industry. Aside from the practical application of pharmacy studies, students are also taught how to be organized, ethically-minded, detail oriented, and how to work independently and with little direction. Students are prepared to work alongside a licensed pharmacist in a health care setting and assist with the workload of their employer.
In order to successfully enroll in the pharmacy technology program at Heald College, students must possess a high school diploma or GED, complete a school application, undergo an entrance assessment, interview with an admissions advisor, and have the admissions advisor recommend the student to the campus director. Once the process is complete, a tour of the campus is recommended prior to the enrollment of classes.
