The pharmacy technician program is offered at three Kaplan campuses including Detroit, Cleveland, and San Antonio. Students of the program learn how to transcribe physician orders, price and fill prescriptions, prepare dosages, set up IV admixtures and sterile irrigations, dispense medication, process medical insurance claim forms, maintain patient files, and assist with quality management. Students who graduate from the pharmacy technician program become well-prepared to enter the industry as a pharmacy tech. Kaplan Career Institute provides the students of the pharmacy program with a wide variety of hands-on opportunities and experience in real-world pharmacy settings.
Admission requirements for the pharmacy technician program at Kaplan include several procedures. Potential students must be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate. If the potential student was home schooled, a Home Study certificate or transcript is required. Applicants of Kaplan are not accepted without these basic criteria. The admissions office at Kaplan strives to provide thorough information to potential students and answer all questions prior to enrollment. Students are advised to visit the campus and set up an appointment to meet with an admissions counselor prior to class enrollment. An on-campus tour can be arranged at the time of the school visitation.
