MTI Community College
MTI Community College first opened its doors in 1988 under the name Metro Training Institute. In 2003 Metro changed its name to MTI to reflect the growing list of training and educational programs. Today MTI Community College has six campus locations throughout the Province of British Columbia in the cities of Abbotsford, Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam, and Chilliwack.

MTI offers students over two dozen career paths in industries such as Business, Youth and Childcare, Hospitality, Health Care, and International Studies. The courses of study at MTI are directly related to a specific career path with the overall goal of obtaining employment before or immediately after graduation. Each course focuses on teaching the specific skills and knowledge needed to be a successful employee. The programs at MTI are designed to be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. Many programs can be completed within six months. Class offerings are designed to be accommodating to student's schedules. Many MTI Community College students have families and jobs while attending training classes.
The Pharmacy Technician program is a 30 week course that prepares students to be a pharmacy technician in a community pharmacy, hospital, or pharmaceutical distribution company. Students are trained to read and dispense medications, use pharmacy information systems, prepare intravenous mixtures, understand pharmacy laws, control inventory levels, and perform calculations using pharmacy math. Some courses include Pharmacology, Prescription Transcription, Pharmaceutical Calculations, Compounding, Computer Applications, Customer Service, and Practicum. The practicum experience enables the student to care for actual customers and patients in a real world environment at an approved pharmacy.
Upon completion of the program each student receives job placement assistance through the career center. Career services assists students with the job application process including interviewing, resume writing, professional attire, job search techniques, and networking with potential employers.
