Students can obtain a career certificate, diploma, or an associate's degree upon completion of the program. The program will teach students to conduct pharmacy technician duties such as dispensing medication, verifying and filling prescriptions, stocking and ordering inventory, customer service, preparing medications, and insurance billing. Students will also understand fundamental concepts in pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, medical terminology, and medical laws and ethics. No matter what type of pharmacy technician program a student is in, all have the opportunity to complete an externship in an approved pharmacy. The externship comes near the end of the program and helps each student to put into practice the skills and knowledge they have learned in the class and laboratory.
