Sanford-Brown Institute
The Sanford-Brown Institute has roots that go all the way back to the latter half of the 19th century when Rufus C. Crampton, who was a professor at Illinois College, opened a school to meet the demands of the Post-Civil War American Economy. Today the Sanford-Brown Institute has grown into a fully accredited career and technical training institution of higher education with campuses all over the United States.

Sanford-Brown Institute is accredited by the accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges as well as the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Both accreditation commissions are nationally recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. SBI is fully authorized to grant bachelor's and associate's degrees as well as career certificates and diplomas.
All the classes at Sanford-Brown Institute are built upon a career-driven model that focus less on theory and more on practical hands-on skill building. Theory is also taught as students need a good theoretical foundation to learn from, but the emphasis is preparing each student for employment in their field of study. Programs are also designed to be flexible, giving the student the opportunity to continue their education while maintaining commitments such as work, family, and recreation. Many programs have day, night, weekend, and online offerings.
The Pharmacy Technician program at SBI prepares students for employment as an entry level pharmacy technician. Entry level pharmacy techs work side by side with the pharmacist reading and filling prescriptions, calculating doses, billing insurance companies, providing customer service, ordering and stocking inventory, and working with patient records. The program teaches students fundamental concepts in anatomy and physiology, biology, pharmacology, pharmacy mathematics, compounding, and medical law and ethics. Each student also must complete an approved pharmacy externship putting to practice the skills learned in the classroom.
