Southern Careers Institute is a family owned and operated career and technical center with campus locations in Austin, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Harlingen, Pharr, and San Antonio. Southern Careers Institute offers a variety of career training programs in Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, Pharmacy Technician, Business Accounting Specialist, Administrative Assistant, and Cosmetology. All of the programs are designed to be completed in quickly so that students can begin their new career. Some of the programs at SCI can be finished in as little as six months. The classes at Southern Career Institute are also designed to be flexible. Both day and evening offerings exist so that students can keep up with their out of school commitments like family, work, and recreation.

Southern Careers Institute offers every student a full array of student services to help them achieve their career and educational goals. The student services staff is there to assist students with day care solutions, transportation, and even housing. Students can also receive assistance with one on one and group tutoring, and student development skills such as time management, test-taking, and study techniques.
Another major component of student services at Southern Careers Institute is the job placement assistance. Job placement assistance teaches the students the skills they do not learn in the classroom but are still crucial in helping them obtain and be successful in their chosen field. The job placement specialists help students learn how to write successful resumes and cover letters that increase the likelihood of getting an interview. Students are also taught how to network with potential employers, find jobs using the internet, and how to dress in a professional manner. SCI also facilitates career fairs where potential employers come to campus and discuss employment options.
The Pharmacy Technician program at SCI prepares students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful entry level pharmacy technicians. The curriculum is hands on and culminates in an externship in an approved pharmacy where students get to work side by side with pharmacy professionals.
