U.S. Career Institute offers several dozen at-home study courses in a wide variety of industries and occupations. Students can receive certificates or associate degrees. U.S. Career Institute was founded in 1981 by Pamela Weston, a former medical transcriptionist who created a step-by-step training system to be completed at home. U.S. Career Institute is located at 2001 Lowe Street in Fort Collins, Colorado. USCI is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council and is a member of the Better Business Bureau. USCI is a member of the Colorado Private School Association and approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education.

USCI offers dozens of programs in career fields such as pharmacy technician, accounting services, criminal justice, fitness trainer, medical billing, veterinary specialist, wedding consultant, home inspection, insurance adjuster, paralegal, child care, and bookkeeping. At U.S. Career Institute all of the coursework can be completed on the students own time from the comfort of their own home. There is no time line on completing the training so students are able to continue on with their schedules while studying for their certificate.
All students receive instructional support from faculty as they can be reached via email or phone. The exams are all open book and can be taken online or hard copy. Students can email, fax, or mail their exams back to the school for grading. Upon enrollment students receive their books, supplemental learning tools such as CD's, videos, and equipment. Graduates receive lifetime career guidance and job placement support. Graduates are assisted with interview preparation, resumes and cover letter writing, job search skills, and how to act like a professional.
The pharmacy technician study course can be completed in as little as four months and there is no time limit on its completion. The course is broken down into five instructional packs that focus on teaching all the skills required for an entry level pharmacy technician job.
